Do utkání proti favorizované České Třebové vstoupil Žamberk s odhodláním a snahou o poctivý výkon. V prvním poločase domácí tým diktoval tempo hry a vytvářel si tlak i několik šancí, přesto se hosté dokázali bránit a inkasovali pouze jednu branku. Obrana pracovala obětavě a tým držel naději na případné vyrovnání.
Ve druhé půli se však stále více projevovala herní i fyzická převaha domácích, kteří dokázali přidat další tři góly. Přesto je třeba vyzdvihnout bojovnost žamberských hráčů, kteří se snažili zápas nezabalit a pokračovali v úsilí až do závěrečného hvizdu.
